THE Global Table blog is about to live fully up to its name when Salvelio and I set off this weekend for five weeks of travelling, feasting and food writing in Spain!

Starting on Monday when we land in Madrid, the two of us will embark on a culinary journey that will include Salvelio’s family villlage of Guijuelo – home to Spain’s famous Iberico ham or “jamon”; the province of Salamanca which is renowned for its fantastic artisan breads and pastries, and premier wine producing region the Duero Valley which is giving Rioja a bit of a run for its money.
We’ll also explore the sultry south – Andalusia – which is famed for gazpacho and splendid summery tapas. While in the province famous for flamenco and Spain’s rich Moorish heritage we’ll be visiting Salvelio’s brother, who lives in Cordoba, and is equally fired up about food.
Keep your eye on the blog because wherever we go we’ll be sharing our foodie finds and adventures – and hopefully also coax a few chefs and ardent home cooks along the way into parting with treasured recipes!

Enjoy every moment. We are looking forward to reading more!
